Tony Elumelu Foundation’s BeGreen Africa Entrepreneurship Program 2025

Freee Recycle Limited, a Nigerian enterprise established in 2018, has emerged as a leading force in urban waste management. The company has transformed over 400,000 discarded tyres into valuable products ranging from construction materials to consumer goods.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation has just opened applications for the BeGreen Africa Entrepreneurship Program for 2025, the application deadline is March 1st of 2025. This presents a unique and exciting opportunity for Africa’s young entrepreneurs who are passionate about green development on the continent.

The following program is available for green entrepreneurs based in Nigeria, South Africa, Senegal and for businesses dealing with waste management in Kenya. All applications for the initiative must be for a green business idea, and must be an original idea from the applicant. Furthermore, the business idea cannot be unethical or illegal.

The program will proceed as follows:

First entrepreneurs will go through a process of verification and onboarding. Verification includes the submission of necessary documents which will be reviewed by the promoter, candidates not passing verification will be removed from the program. Applicants who make it through this process will then be enrolled in the TEF business management training program.

Next, participants who completed the training program will receive a business plan template which they will use to create their own unique business plan to be reviewed and assessed. This assessment will be based on metrics including sustainability and feasibility, so make sure to be realistic in your goals! Top scoring participants will be notified via email and can proceed to the pitch stage of the program.

During the Pitch Stage of the program, shortlisted participants will present their created business idea to a panel of judges. All selected candidates who pass this will receive a seed capital for their business of 5,000 USD! This is a unique opportunity for young entrepreneurs to take an idea from dream to reality, furthermore, such initiatives are vital towards driving sustainable entrepreneurship on the African continent.
