MANDATE TO DEVELOP AND OPERATE SEZ IN EACH PROVINCE OF MOZAMBIQUE

Beluluane Industrial Park

Beluluane Industrial Park (BIP) is owned and operated by MozParks which is part of the ASEZA network. The park has 700 ha of ready-developed industrial land for lease in Maputo Province. It is divided into Free Zones and Non-Free Zones.

The BIP is located in the south of Mozambique, in one of the most industrialised and productive regions of Southern Africa. The Park is 2 km away from the country’s main highway, 20 km away from the port of Maputo and 6 km from the port of Matola.

BIP is only a one-hour drive from both the South African and Eswatini borders. The BIP is home to over 50 companies from 17 countries including Mozal (the anchor), Midal Cables, Godrej, Capital Star Steel, Sunshine Nuts, Royal Foods, Duys, Imperial Logistics, Bosh, Raxio Data Center, Matola Gas Company, Hytec, Dendustri and others.

Topuito Industrial Park

Topuito Industrial Park (TIP) is a state-of-the-art innovation hub that focuses on nurturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Construction of the core infrastructure and facilities has been completed and will be expanded continuously.

TIP offers for lease 215 ha of ready-developed industrial land and accommodation on site in Nampula province. It is 250 km away from Nampula city. TIP is adjacent to Kenmare Moma Mine, operated by Kenmare Resources, a global leader in mineral sands processing, with an annual revenue of over 450 million USD. The Moma mine contains deposits of heavy minerals which are essential for titanium.

The workforce at the mine includes 1500 employees and over 900 contractors, all of whom need to be nourished and supplied on a daily basis.

The TIP is an essential partner to the Kenmare Moma Mine by operating the base from which local agricultural producers and SMEs can offer their products and services. This is done with a strong focus on agricultural value-chain growth and a commitment to empowering the local workforce.

MozParks and Kenmare share a strong commitment to training and development of local workers and to promoting the role of women in the workforce.

As of August 15, 2023, TIP has been designated as an industrial free zone by the Mozambican government.

Cabo Delgado Parks

CD Parks is an initiative of the Cabo Delgado Provincial Executive Council, represented by the Cabo Delgado Economic Development Promotion centre (CPDE), who are the owners of the industrial parks, and MozParks as operators. Starting in 2023, the objective is to develop one logistic base and a cluster of four industrial parks around larger anchor industries in the districts of Montepuez, Balama, Ancuabe and Palma.

The province of Cabo Delgado has one of the world’s largest reserves of natural gas, with the potential to attract multi-billion USD investments from various international oil and gas companies. The province also has considerable deposits of graphite, a key component in battery production.

CD Parks will encourage the local private sector to explore business opportunities involving supply chains of goods and services linked to the large companies in extractive industries. The project is expected to create more than 20’000 jobs over the next 5 years.

Topuito MSME Park

The Topuito MSME Park, located in Mozambique’s Nampula Province, is a strategic economic development initiative that brings together MozParks, a Mozambican public-private partnership, and the World Bank’s Economic Links for Diversification Project (PLED). This collaboration emerged from the Mozambican government’s request for World Bank support in strengthening economic connections between MSMEs and major investments across key provinces, including Tete, Nampula, and Cabo Delgado.

The park encompasses 215 hectares, with an initial development phase covering 10.35 hectares. Its primary mission is to create a thriving ecosystem for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), with a particular focus on businesses capable of providing products and services to Kenmare, the anchor company. Through PLED’s support, MozParks is developing spaces that enable MSMEs to capitalize on both direct and indirect business opportunities generated by Kenmare and other major enterprises in the region.

The MozYouth Foundation

The MozYouth Foundation, established through a partnership between MozParks, FNB, and Hollard, is a youth employment initiative in Mozambique. The foundation’s mission centers on empowering Mozambican youth to create positive societal impact through four key pillars: education, internship programs, entrepreneurship development, and their youth platform. MozYouth’s training approach emphasizes essential soft skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, and professional etiquette, ensuring graduates are workplace-ready. The foundation’s internship program has built partnerships with over 150 companies, achieving an impressive success rate with more than 50% of participants securing full-time employment. Through their entrepreneurship focus, MozYouth provides specialized training and support to young Mozambicans, equipping them with practical business skills and entrepreneurial mindsets.

Additionally, the youth platform enables MozYouth to gather and analyze valuable demographic data about Mozambique’s young population, contributing to more informed decision-making in youth development initiatives.
